The Albanian Geological Survey, in cooperation with EIT RawMaterials Albania, is organizing the Capacity-Building Workshop “UNFC and UNRMS in Practice: Sustainable Resource Management for Albania.”The Albanian Geological Survey, in cooperation with EIT RawMaterials Albania, is organizing the Capacity-Building Workshop “UNFC and UNRMS in Practice: Sustainable Resource Management for Albania”.

The workshop aims to strengthen the capacities of Albanian experts and partner institutions in the practical application of the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) and to enhance understanding of the United Nations Resource Management System (UNRMS) as important frameworks for the assessment and integrated, sustainable management of resources.

⛏️ Key focus areas of the workshop include:

• 🔹 mineral resources and critical raw materials;
• 🔹 geothermal energy;
• 🔹 mine management and closure;
• 🔹 mining legacy sites;
• 🔹 project classification according to UNFC and the E, F and G axes;
• 🔹 application of UNRMS principles in the Albanian context.

Through theoretical sessions, discussions, practical exercises and a field trip, participants will have the opportunity to connect international concepts and methodologies with real-life cases and resource management challenges in Albania.

👥 The workshop will bring together specialists from the Albanian Geological Survey, resource assessment and data experts, representatives of EIT RawMaterials, public institutions, academia, industry and innovation stakeholders.

🎯 One of the main objectives is to identify concrete next steps for continued cooperation, including the potential development of a UNFC/UNRMS pilot project in Albania, the preparation of a national case study, and the establishment of a network of experts for the continuous exchange of knowledge and experience.
