Representatives from RIC Albania participated in the “Balkans Regional Workshop and Introductory Legal Review/Regulatory Best Practices for Mining Life-Cycle Governance Training and Regulation Simulation”

Representatives from five Balkan countries—Albania, Romania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Bulgaria—participated in the event. Albania was represented by RIC Albania and the National Agency of Natural Resources (AKBN).
During the workshop, best legal and regulatory practices for mineral rehabilitation and the management of mining and enrichment plant waste (tailings) were presented.
The Director of the Center, Dr. Ledi Moisiu, held bilateral meetings with the Chair of the Kosovo Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals (KPMM), Dr. Habib Basholli, and Mr. Jeton Kuçi, Director of the Department of Mineral Resources at the Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Mineral Resources, North Macedonia. These discussions focused on opportunities for institutional collaboration.
Consultations regarding the regulatory framework in the mining sector were also held with Romanian colleagues, where best practices for managing mining and technological waste were shared.
